We at Arc have teamed up with Abbey road coffee shop in Great Malvern.

We have long believed in the power of local businesses, so we at ARC Adventure have teamed up with Abbey Road Coffee to bring you the Field to Cup Tours. Experience not only the destinations that your coffee and tea comes from but the process in which it is made.

Sri Lanka & Panama

Our field to cup tours aren’t just about relaxing and drinking your choice of teas and coffees, but also experiencing and exploring the culture and the very history of the destinations which created this heritage. Our elite coffee tours take place in Panama. You wouldn’t necessarily think of Panama as a coffee region but despite its comparably minuscule production it is gaining world recognition for its quality and has some famous faces choosing Panamanian coffee as their preferred option.

There are primarily three coffee producing areas ranging in elevation from 1,000 to 1,600 metres, with Boquete as the oldest and best known. In addition to Boquete, the area of Volcán is situated on the steep, southwestern slopes of Volcán Barú; finally, Renacimiento is the least-known area due to its remote location.  Some important factors contributing to quality, especially for Boquete and Volcán, are the good transport and processing infrastructure, including exceptionally run wet processing stations and dry mills.

The terroir of Panama is quite unique with mountainous regions and nutrient rich volcanic soil that together create numerous microclimates across the country.  The winds blowing over the mountains from the north create a fine mist called bajareque that acts as a huge air conditioner slowing the ripening of coffee cherries and contributing, ultimately, to sweet and complex cups.

When it comes to tea tours, we have chosen Sri Lanka for a variety of reasons. Its very heritage combines influence from many European countries, notably the UK. The humidity, cool temperatures, and rainfall of the country's central highlands provide a climate that favours the production of high-quality tea. On the other hand, tea produced in low-elevation areas such as Matara, Galle and Ratanapura districts with high rainfall and warm temperature has a high level of astringent properties.

Our Sri Lankan tea tours don’t just include the plantation visits but also the whole process of how you go from field to cup.  Travel through the panoramic rolling fields of tea surrounded by lush green hills by train to really absorb the culture as you make your way to the tasting overlook, sit back and enjoy the view with a quality cup of tea. Just imagine waking up amongst the sights and sounds of a quiet yet active tea plantation, stepping out onto your private balcony with a cup of tea in hand. The 98 acres resort can be your tea heaven and is a paradise in its entirety. Tea isn’t all that is offered on these tours, you can add a number of experiences to your Sri Lankan tea tour as this little gem offers such a diverse range of activities from culture to adventure even wildlife, it would be a shame to miss some of these incredible opportunities.

Each tour is designed with you in mind, tailored to your interests, so you leave cultured and having had a wealth of experience leaving you wanting more.
